My boyfriend loves vintage cameras, i´d love to buy one for his birthday, but don´t know which. Help!?
He already has 2 vintage film cameras, one russian one and one Yashica electro 35. I know he likes ones which allow you to adjust the settings, focus , aperture etc alot, but I know nothing about cameras. Which are the most popular vintage cameras, and what kind of results to they give? He likes to take photos that look old, but preferably a camera that takes 200 film, or film that is still in production.
Your boyfriend had two nice items there. The Yashica Electro 35 has become an inexpensive collector's item (if the electronics still work it's a great camera), and the Russian one is probably an imitation Leica.
They're both 35mm rangefinder cameras. He might enjoy a different type of camera to branch out his collection.
The Nikon F that Sam mentioned would make an awesome addition ( http://www.cameraquest.com/fhistory.htm ). It's pretty much the prototype photojournalism camera from the era when SLR cameras took over from rangefinders - in large part thanks to the Nikon F. Add an old Nikon 50mm lens to make a kit. It uses the same film as his other cameras.

Another option would be a medium format camera. Maybe an inexpensive folder camera. Very old school: they use bellows, but they're not bulky because they literally do fold up for travel. They look something like this: http://www.cameraquest.com/zikontc.htm

You can send him an email for info about inexpensive models he might have lying around. He restores these himself, so you know his cameras are in working condition. (I've also purchased from certo6 myself.)
These use larger than normal rolls of film - but still widely available on-line and at larger camera stores. Expect to pay $150 and up for a working folder.

I picked up a Canonet QL17 G-III myself on eBay last year for $65 including a flash. It's not better than the Yashica (they're about the same) but for me it was important that the Canonet will continue to work without a battery. I did have to spend another $10 to replace the light seals on it though. They tend to disintegrate after 30 years
