will a pentax K mount lens work with a Pentax K5D?
i have a 70's Pentax MX 35mm SLR which uses K mount lenses. i have 15 K-mount lenses, and was thinking of buying the Pentax K5D. their website says K mount lenses will work with an adapter/ or limitations. i am aware that if i use the vintage lenses i will not be able to use auto focus, is this the "limitation" they speak of, or will i need to purchase an adapter. i have other DSLR cameras i am not new to DSLRs, i just hate to think of all that glass just sitting there wasting away
Old Pentax glass is exceptional. Yes, they will work perfectly in Manual and Aperture-priority modes without the need of an adapter. Make sure you set the focus switch on the body to manual so as not to destroy the AF motor. All those lenses will benefit from Shake Reduction and focus confirmation even if those technologies weren't available during the time those lenses were made.
I have a box full of screwmount lenses myself and I use them with adapters on my Pentax K200d and K-x. Same reason. I hate to see all that glass just sitting there.
