Human Exo-skeleton?

We've all seen the loader featured in the 1986 film Aliens, where crewmen operate a bi-pedal loader via hand and foot restraints.

My question is this: Could such a mechanical exo-skeleton ever be engineered to a useful degree, so it can be effectively used for light goods loading, or as an aid to physically disabled people? Is it perhaps possible to use Piezoelectric fibres as a lightweight alternative to hydraulics?

I think it is possible to create such devices. If you have good sensors that can "see" what movement you are attempting, then it is relatively simple to amplify it with hydraulics. I really think sensors is the key problem. They have to be very efficient.

I don't think piezoelectric fibers can generate the forces necessary.
